Reneth McKenzie-Schoetz 



Reneth McKenzie – Schoetz is a self employed Chartered Senior Mechanical Engineer, who has worked in the Construction Sector for 17 years.  She has been part of a number of interesting projects, which includes the AstraZeneca Laboratory in Cambridge from 2017-18, the repurposing of the former American Embassy, London to a luxury hotel in 2019 and in recent times designing services for luxury villas in the Caribbean in 2022.  Prior to this she worked as a Technical Engineer, designing and testing lithium iron batteries, which powered equipment on board NASA and the European Space Agency satellites.

As a research student, she studied and simulated the detection of warships electrical signature generated by cathodic protection systems, which were designed to reduce warship corrosion.  Her pre and post degree work placements took her to Angers and Grenoble in France.

As a director at AFBE UK, a not for profit organisation, she dedicated 12 years to campaigning for diversity and inclusion in the engineering workplace.  She also promoted engineering careers to young people in under-represented areas of London and across the UK.  This work took her to Downing St in 2018, with AFBE-UK.  She stepped down from this voluntary post at the end of 2021. 

In her spare time she grows fresh fruit and vegetables at her allotment.  Last summers yield of apples meant that she turned her hand to making of cider.  She is also an advanced motorcyclist and loves to travel on her motorbike for leisure.
