Welcome

Active and passive mechanics play a vital role in living systems at a range of lengthscales. Significant advances in this interdisciplinary field have been made through collaborations between theorists and experimentalists from a range of disciplines, and through the development of new computational techniques. The goal of this meeting is to showcase the latest research in understanding various aspects of cell mechanics and cell motility, with a range of problems including biofilm formation and development, infection, dynamics in tissue, cell architecture and chromatin mechanics. The meeting will demonstrate how theoretical, numerical and experimental approaches work together to understand mechanics in biology. In addition to showcasing exciting advances in these areas, this meeting aims to provide an opportunity for fostering discussions and collaborations.

The programme of contributed and invited talks is followed by an evening meal at Goldney Hall.
