The Institute of Physics (IOP) is hosting a day of activity at the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP28. This will take place on December 7th at the University of Birmingham Campus Dubai in Dubai’s International Academic City.

This event will follow the launch of the IOP’s ‘Physics Powering the Green Economy’ report. Climate change is, by international consensus, the defining challenge of our time, and we stand at a crossroads. At this time of action, we aim to share the findings of this report with a global audience and amplify the voices of the 500+ IOP members who contributed to this work. Simultaneously this event will highlight physics’ fundamental contributions to climate research, call attention to effective climate change solutions driven by physics and build support for the sector.

Throughout the day panels of international experts will guide attendees through common misconceptions related to their specialist subjects, along with discussion on various bottlenecks in their sectors and a Q&A. We believe that this myth-busting motif will allow for an interesting and accessible dialogue for all audience members. In the afternoon a keynote will be given by Professor Myles Allen. Further details are available in the programme.
