Sarah joined the IOP in February 2021 to provide leadership and expertise to the EDI strands woven within their strategy. Since joining she has led on the creation of the new Physics Inclusion Award to replace Project Juno, the IOP’s gender equality award and supported governance activity to include IOP members in delivery of the strategic goals.
Sarah leads a team of five and between them they cover all aspects of EDI including policy – both internal and external, working with IOP members in a range of ways including Committees and EDI programs, IOP staff education and engagement including being a Bronze Award Holder from the Employers Network for Equality and Inclusion for IOP’s own internal EDI work, delivery of the Bell Burnell Graduate Scholarship Fund which supports students from underrepresented backgrounds to undertake a PhD, and the Limit Less campaign which engages with people from all backgrounds to encourage young people to study physics post 16.
Sarah previously worked at AWE plc as the Diversity and Inclusion Manager where she established the D&I activity, she is CIPD qualified as well as being an experienced Learning and Development consultant, designing and delivering high quality development solutions for both local government and industry.
