The aim of the meeting is to begin building a multi-disciplinary community for the study and exploitation of antiferromagnetic materials and ultrafast magnetic processes, following the award of Engineering and Physics Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) network grant UKRI2035. The thematic area is meant to be inclusive, bringing together research in bulk and thin film magnetism, strongly correlated systems, and nanoparticle and molecular magnetism, while exploring applications in fields ranging from data storage and spintronics, through photonics and wireless communications, to biomedical engineering and paleomagnetism. The day will begin with a series of invited talks that explore different aspects of the network theme. The structure and activities of the network will then be explained, before a final drinks reception to enable informal discussion.
