Hannah Newton

Hannah Newton is leading the Stakeholder Liaison work for the Boulby Development Programme at STFC. In this role she will be connecting with individuals and organisations to explore the opportunities and benefits of expanding the UK’s underground lab facilities.  Hannah has been fortunate to experience either end of STFC’s work in the particle accelerating world, initially with the ‘applied’ end where she managed the infrastructure build for Advanced Oncotherapy (AVO) at the Daresbury Laboratory (DL) site to house AVO’s proton therapy LIGHT system. Hannah then moved to the DL contribution towards the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE), building the production factory where the UK will be making anode plane assemblies (APA) for the DUNE Far Detector. Most recently, Hannah spent a year as an Associate Director for STFC’s National Labs, working with the Executive Directors across the portfolio of the labs. Hannah joined STFC in 2018 having spent 4 years in the private sector as a project manager and research scientist team manager. Prior to that, she was in academic research in the field of air quality sensing and environmental science.
