Professor Peter McClintock

Peter McClintock was born in Omagh, N. Ireland, and studied physics at Queen’s University, Belfast (BSc 1962). He investigated spin-phonon interactions in paramagnetic crystals under Harry Rosenberg (DPhil 1966) at the Clarendon Laboratory, Oxford and then moved to Duke University, N. Carolina to work with Henry Fairbank, who introduced him to superfluidity. Since 1968 he has been at Lancaster University where is currently Research Professor Emeritus.

Peter’s research interests centre on nonlinearity, encompassing quantum turbulence in superfluid 4He, stochastic nonlinear dynamics, and biomedical physics. He is Editor-in-Chief of Fluctuation and Noise Letters.
