Geetha Balakrishnan is a Professor in the Superconductivity and Magnetism Group,
Department of Physics, at the University of Warwick, where she has worked since 1991.
She was also a Research Fellow in the same group from 1986-1988. Geetha is an expert
in the single crystal synthesis of a wide variety of materials, including
superconductors, magnets, topological materials and 2D materials. She has overseen a
very successful EPSRC funded programme of single crystal growth at Warwick for over
30 years. Geetha is a Fellow of the IOP since 2009 and is the Chair of the International
Union of Crystallography (IUCr) Commission on Crystal Growth and Characterisation
of Materials. Geetha has held visiting professorships (JSPS) at RIKEN, Tokyo, SPINCNR, Italy and at the CBPF, Brazil. She was the lead for the key challenge for Materials
in the recently concluded
EPSRC UK Skyrmion Project.
