Dr Yvonne Grunder

Yvonne Grunder has more than ten year’s research experience at the forefront in the fields of structural characterisation of electrochemical interfaces, in which she has worked in some of Europe’s leading research groups.

During the work for her thesis she was based at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF), Grenoble (France), studying electrodeposition onto semiconductor surfaces by in-situ surface X-ray diffraction. She spent her postdoctoral time working at the Christian-Albrechts-Universitat Kiel, Germany investigating electrodeposition onto metal electrode surfaces and at the University of Manchester studying electrodeposition at liquid-liquid interfaces utilising in-situ spectroscopic methods.

Yvonne Grunder joined the University of Liverpool in 2013 with a Royal Society Research Fellowship and is currently a Lecturer associated with the Stephenson Institute of Renewable Energy (SIRE) and the Department of Physics. She joined the XMaS management team in 2018 as the Liverpool co-director. Her interests are focussed on atomic scale understanding of the structure and reactions at electrochemical interfaces. She has since been involved in developing new approaches using x-ray methods to access atomic and electronic structure at the electrified solid/liquid interface.
