Dr Sven Friedemann

Sven Friedemann is an Associate Professor in the Quantum Materials group at the University of Bristol. He studies high-temperature and unconventional superconductors as well as quantum critical materials. His group combines high-resolution transport, magnetic, thermodynamic and spectroscopic measurements in high magnetic fields and at low temperatures with high pressure tuning and synthesis. His work is supported by an ERC starting grant. Before coming to Bristol, Sven Friedemann has been holding a Marie-Curie fellowship at the University of Cambridge where he focused on quantum criticality in ferromagnetic metals and Mott insulators. His PhD work at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics, Dresden, revealed fundamental scaling behaviour and the interaction of electronic and magnetic quantum criticality in antiferromagnetic YbRh2Si2.
