Otto is a solid-state chemist with research interests in frustrated and quantum magnetism. He received his PhD in 2018 at Aalto University and did his postdoc at the University of Sheffield with prof. Eddie Cussen in collaboration with ISIS Neutron and Muon Source. He holds a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship at the University of Birmingham investigating quantum criticality in magnetic materials. Otto was awarded the IoP/RSC 2023 BTM Willis Prize for using neutrons and muons to investigate long-sought after states of quantum matter.
