Dr Alexander Russell is a Lecturer in Applied Mathematics at the University of Dundee. His main research interests are in plasma physics, with applications to space, solar and astrophysical plasmas. He has particular expertise in MHD, solar flares, MHD waves, magnetic reconnection and magnetic helicity, and has enjoyed collaborations with colleagues around the world. Alexander gained his PhD in 2010 from the University of St Andrews. Thereafter he was awarded a Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 Research Fellowship, which he took up at the University of Glasgow. He became a Research at the University of Dundee in 2013 and was appointed as a Lecturer in 2016.
