Keywords: Fluids, multiscale, dynamics

The properties of a fluid confined or close to a surface can be very different from that of the bulk phase of the same composition. The physical laws for flow, viscoelasticity and thermodynamics reach the frontiers of their validity (Fig.1). These scales are also those of physiological fluids and thus of the life chain. Modern techniques and new theoretical concepts today offer us the opportunity to approach multi-scale and multi-dynamic physics, to probe in order to better understand and predict new fluidic properties.

The mini-colloquium aims to bring together researchers from various expertise in fluidics, wetting, rheophysics, microfluidics, confinement effects in the liquid state, interfacial and scaling effects. Particular attention will be paid to the understanding collective effects in a variety of systems, from self-assembled systems (liquid crystals, colloids, ionic liquids, physiological fluids, etc) to simple liquids. We welcome contributions from both those working on fundamental theories of liquid and soft matter experimentalists. We encourage contributions from young researchers including PhD students.
